Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) recently partnered with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) to establish public charging stations across India.
The partnership aims to enhance the experience for electric vehicle (EV) owners by leveraging BPCL's extensive network of over 21,000 fuel stations and TPEM's insights from the operation of more than 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads.
It will also focus on setting up chargers at locations frequently visited by Tata EV owners. Additionally, BPCL will gather insights on charger usage to improve customer experience.
The two companies are also exploring the possibility of introducing a convenient payment system through a co-branded RFID card, making payment easier for Tata EV users and encouraging more people to adopt electric vehicles in the country.
BPCL will utilize its nationwide network of over 21,000 Fuel Stations to install 7,000 electric vehicle charging stations next year.
BPCL said it has initiated over 90 Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Highway Corridors to ensure the availability of a fast-charging station approximately every 100 kilometers on both sides of major highways.
Spanning more than 30,000 kilometres across various highways, these corridors are set to enhance the convenience and accessibility of electric vehicles, the company said.
